Cat Fonts

This free font foundry is the creation of retired German designer Peter Wiegel; offering a variety of designs, including historical and script-oriented typefaces.

Colllettivo

Collletttivo is a typographic practice established in 2017 in Milan, Italy; claiming to be the first Italian open source digital type foundry. They emphasize type design through mutual exchange and collaboration.

Death of Typography is a young design collective, based in Singapore, that practices, researches and explores free and open type, through creative inquiry and collaboration.

fonderie.download presents itself as the ideal collection of experimental Libre type. All fonts offered on their website adhere to their very own open source license, called “do what the fuck you want”, granting users the freedom to use them as they wish. Despite not maintaining a presence on social media, the platform encourages users to reach out via email, expressing eagerness to showcase user-generated content featuring their fonts on the "fonts in use" page.

Indestructible Type

Indestructible Type is an open source foundry with fonts by Owen Earl. Central to the vision of the foundry, is making free, highly versatile, archetypal typography. Fonts that capture the essence of a typographic idea and will look good in any context. Fonts that will have a full range of widths and styles and use the latest technology to recreate the best designs of history. These are Indestructible Fonts, and they are the main focus of the foundry.

Quarantine fonts by Jens Kutilek

This project involves miscellaneous font initiatives at various stages of development. During the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, Jens Kutilek, who began exploring type design in 2007, decided to release a collection of unfinished fonts as open source, acknowledging the challenges of completing typefaces and hoping the raw material would be beneficial to other type designers.

The League of Moveable Type

Claiming to be the very first free & open source type foundry, the League is a hand-selected group of typographers interested in propelling the movement into the professional playing field. By doing so, they hope to do more than offer a free set of high-quality fonts–they hope to revolutionize web typography altogether.

Lobby 24

Lobby 24 is an open source foundry started by Simon Marcio Bretz, Hannes Brischke and Florian Budke in 2021.

Luuse Typothèque

This Typothèque is a list of typefaces created and used by the Belgian collective Luuse. Luuse asbl values in its activities open systems and free culture through the development of physical and digital environments, both practical and theoretical. The reciprocal transmission of knowledge and the creation of commons, both internally and externally, is a condition of its raison d'être.

Manufactura Independente Type Collection

This GitLab collection by the Portuguese design studio Manufactura Independente offers free and open source font material that they have been working on.

Free fonts made by Russian-born graphic designer Vika Usmanova, currently working and residing in Istanbul, Turkey.

Typothèque Esa Septantecinq

Open source digital library containing all the typefaces created by students from the graphic design department of Esa Le 75. New creations are added to the collection every year. Its mission is to serve as a useful tool for design students, but also for anyone generally interested in typography.

OSP foundry

All fonts produced by the Belgian open source oriented design studio “Open Source Publishing”. Some of them are complete typefaces, others are works in progress, however, all being Libre fonts, allowing for modification, redistribution, and use by anyone.

Republish

Republish is a self-initiated and exploratory project by Behalf Studio. The project seeks to investigate the typographic remnants hidden in the apertures of the urban landscape and archived materials, and revive them into digital typefaces. The output of this project is a curated collection of free and open source fonts, along with storytelling elements, created by and for Vietnamese people, as an effort to return the unique but familiar aesthetics of local identity to their community.

Suva Type Foundry

Suva consists of mostly decorative and experimental fonts created by students and faculty from the Department of Graphic Design at the faculty of Design, Estonian Academy of Art, stemming from various workshops, classes, and research projects.

Tunera

Tunera is a transnational type foundry that aims to present new and original typefaces for everyone. Tunera Type Foundry got its name from the Indian fig cactus, called “tunera” in Spanish, because it offers sharp font picks, rich curves, and lots of flavor. Founded in January 2020 by Ariel Martín Pérez, with Anton Moglia joining soon after.

U+270D is the type foundry of EESAB-Rennes. It publishes typefaces designed collectively by Master's students in the type design workshop led by Benjamin Gomez. The fonts are distributed free of charge under a free license. They are produced in a learning context, and do not claim to rival professional fonts, so here more than anywhere else, keep your critical eye wide open when using them!

Velvetyne Type Foundry

Velvetyne is an association and type collective dedicated to researching and disseminating typography and typeface creation. Their efforts manifest through collective creation workshops, public engagements, and the promotion of open, playful tools that embrace an uninhibited approach to typography. Additionally, their editorial practice revolves around building a politically and artistically supported typographic universe, collaborating with diverse and engaged authors.

Warsaw Types

Warsaw Types, or “Warszawskie Kroje”, is a non-commercial project that resulted in a series of twelve new typefaces, created based on the character of Warsaw lettering. The project involved selected young designers, working under the guidance of some of Poland's most experienced typographers.

X Cicéro

X Cicéro is a type drawing workshop designed for graphic design students at ESAD Valence, centered around the school's typographical printing workshop and its collection of small wooden characters.
